A ‘catch-all’ email account (with the account name .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) is automatically created when an account is activated, and collects all messages addressed to non-existent or misspelled usernames at the domain, as long as the domain name is correct.

For example:
If your domain is http://www.your-domain.com and, as the website administrator, you have the only email account for this domain, namely .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), all emails addressed to this domain (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) will be routed to the catch-all mailbox, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) .

The mail catch-all feature has become a valuable tool for larger businesses. Emails are downloaded from Hetzner’s server to a company’s mail server and then distributed to mailboxes throughout the company by an internal server. This eliminates the need for each user to connect to the internet and download new emails, which will further assist in managing your bandwidth more effectively.

The disadvantages of having a catch-all mailbox are that you are more susceptible to spam. Spammers generate emails to random addresses at your-domain.com, knowing that may companies have catch-all enabled. It is possible to disable the catchall mailbox if this becomes relevant to you.
