A merchant account is a commercial bank account enabling your business to accept credit card transactions. By accepting major credit cards you can increase your credibility, customer convenience, and best of all, your sales.
There are four critical elements of an eCommerce solution:
- Shopping Cart: A Shopping Cart is software which allows you to accept product orders for multiple products from your website. Hetzner offers a free, flexible shopping cart with a Basic Account or better.
- Secure Server Connection: A Secure Server Connection is a link to a system which encrypts confidential ordering data for customer protection.
- Merchant Accounts: An Internet merchant account enables you to accept credit cards for payments over the Internet. An Internet merchant account is obtained from a financial institution.
- Payment Transaction Software: Payment Transaction software processes customer order information (address, credit card number, etc.) and sends data to a credit card authorisation network. This service is provided by a Payment Gateway Provider.
A combination of the components above can be arranged / implemented independently. Contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you have a specific requirement in this regard.
