Under older PHP versions, open_basedir could be exploited to grant access to files sharing the same user permissions (i.e nobody), but in different paths. This was an obvious security vulnerability. Since the implementation of suEXEC, combination with Fcgid, on Hetzner’s managed environment, only sites running under an account that can read your files can execute them.

Therefore, adding directories to the open_basedir directive will have no effect unless those files are hosted on the same domain. If required, a Multiple domain can be setup under a parent domain, simulating the open_basedir.
