Hetzner offers three Windows Server license editions with its TruServ Dedicated Server product offering (the table below will assist you in comparing the three editions):
Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition, supporting
- 4 processors (CPUs)
- Up to 32 GB RAM
Windows Web Server 2008 R2 Edition, supporting
- 4 processors (CPUs)
- Up to 32 GB RAM
Windows 2003 Enterprise Server Edition, supporting
- 8 processors (CPUs)
- Up to 32 GB RAM
Windows 2003 Standard Server Edition, supporting
- 4 processors (CPUs)
- Up to 4 GB RAM
Windows 2003 Web Edition Enhanced, supporting
- 4 processors (CPUs)
- Up to 4 GB RAM2.
You will not be able to order additional RAM greater than the above stipulated restrictions.
These licenses are known as ‘per processor’ licenses and are leased on a per processor, per server basis (not on a per user basis). Should your server include two processors (CPUs) you will need to buy an additional license.
It is NOT possible to change (upgrade) from one license to another. Changing to another license will involve a new server build, which could incur setup costs.
