Having your own domain name is the first step towards creating an online presence. If you want to see whether your preferred domain name is available, are looking to transfer your domain name or simply wish to renew it, Hetzner can help you.
Registering your Domain
It’s never been easier to find out whether your preferred domain name is available. Simply use our Domain Search facility to check for availability. Once you have decided on a domain name, you can effortlessly register it by following these easy steps
- New Customers: Before you can register your domain, you will need to create a Hetzner profile. Once you have created a profile, follow the steps under “Existing customers” to register your domain.
- Existing Customers: Log onto the konsoleH™ web hosting control panel and click on the ‘New Order’ button, which will enable you to register your domain with Hetzner. You will also have the opportunity to link your new domain to one of our feature-rich hosting plans.

Transferring your Domain
Just as you have to notify people of a change of address when you move house, so you have to inform your domain name Registrar when you change hosting companies – enabling them to redirect traffic to your new hosting location. Once your domain name registration record has been updated to reflect Hetzner's domain name servers, you can start enjoying the full benefits associated with your Hetzner hosting account.
Hetzner's Domain Transfer Manager in konsoleH enables you to conveniently transfer your co.za domain name registration to our name servers, eliminating the need to contact a Hetzner representative to complete your .co.za domain transfer. Simply logon to konsoleH, access the tool under ‘Manage Services’ and follow the four steps clearly explained on the screen. It's important to keep in mind that the Transfer Manager only caters for full ‘co.za’ domain name transfers. Any other domain extension will be handled by a Hetzner representative.
Renewing your Domain
All our customers with domains registered at Hetzner, will receive renewal reminders. For your convenience, we will automatically renew your domain on your behalf, adding the renewal fee to your invoice, unless you instruct us otherwise.
Should you decide not to renew your domain, simply click on the link provided within the renewal reminder email – this will automatically instruct Hetzner not to renew your domain name.
