Hetzner South Africa is committed to the process of transformation.
Our management team has put reasonable targets in place to ensure continued progress is made in establishing a workforce that is reflective of the demographic profile of the Western Cape and South Africa.
Our take on BEE is to act within the spirit of the law by understanding the essence of what is required and working it out as is best suited to our business. Previously disadvantaged individuals are taken into account, however the best suited and most qualified person for the position will always be chosen irrespective of race and gender.
We do not have any external shareholders. Shares are held by the founder.
Understanding that each company is unique in purpose and structure, Hetzner South Africa’s philosophy is to engender ‘empowerment from within’ as we believe that this is more enduring than bringing in external investors. Due to the nature of our business, Hetzner South Africa has a specific skill requirement which includes a combination of call centre expertise and IT skills in order to provide the best in South African web hosting.
Equal Opportunity Employer
Hetzner South Africa is made up of a group of smart, diverse, fun and talented individuals who are passionate about our company and committed to exceeding the expectations of our web hosting customers.
We believe that the objectives and principles of the Employment Equity Act are an integral part of the process of transformation in South Africa and we will continue to actively recruit and retain qualified black professionals to ensure the correct staff representation is achieved and maintained.
Our low staff turnover is testament to our commitment to provide a responsible and ethical working environment for all our employees, providing them with opportunities to grow and thrive as individuals. Underlying all our policies and procedures is a persistent determination to make a sustainable contribution to transformation.
Internships
Traditionally, the IT sector has had a small pool of suitably skilled candidates from which to draw from. In an attempt to actively recruit black professionals, Hetzner South Africa has forged relationships with the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the University of Johannesburg.
Through an internship programme with these universities, we take on students every year for a period of six months in order to provide them with on the job experience, developing their IT skills and customer relationship management. It has often been the case that these students choose to remain with Hetzner South Africa indefinitely.
Social Responsibility
Hetzner South Africa’s social responsibility takes the form of sponsoring of hosting packages to charitable organisations that in some way benefit the underprivileged or the natural environment. In the past we have utilised our resources to:
- assist in educating previously disadvantaged children
- hosting websites for environmental conservationists (e.g. SANCCOB)
- hosting websites for relief projects (e.g. 2005 Tsunami disaster)
- ad hoc contributions to non-profit organisations that show a commitment to meeting particular needs within the communities they serve
*Approval of sponsorships solely at Hetzner's discretion.
