Backup your website content today!
Although Hetzner conducts daily backups of all websites hosted on our servers, it is advisable that you always keep a separate backup copy on your own local PC or a CD.
Here are some tips to help you effectively backup your website:
- Back up all content/data - All content should be included in your backup. For example, your site content, web logs, MySQL databases and mail
- Conduct regular backups - Backup your website and/or server regularly as you make updates and changes and receive new mails (we suggest every 1-2 weeks)
- Store for safe-keeping - When you create backups of your data, store them in a place where they can’t be damaged and where no unauthorised person can access them
- Easily accessible - You need to keep your backups where they are easily accessible to you, for example on your local PC or a CD
The advantage of an offsite backup is that you will always be prepared in the event of any unforeseen failure or disaster. If such incident does occur, Hetzner is able to replicate your website content onto another server at a fraction of the time it may take to re-create your entire website content.
