FrontPage and PostgreSQL support discontinued
As of April 2009, FrontPage Extensions and PostgreSQL will no longer be supported by Hetzner servers.
FrontPage Extension
In 2006 Microsoft discontinued FrontPage Extensions as part of their product offering. Despite this discontinuation, Hetzner continued supporting this service for customers who made use of this technology. Microsoft have since terminated software and security updates, for FrontPage Extensions, which could put our customers’ websites as well as our own infrastructure at risk. As a result, we have chosen to cease support for this application.
PostgreSQL
Having researched the demand for PostgreSQL amongst Hetzner clients, it has been determined that it is insufficient to warrant ongoing server and client support. Our findings also reveal that MySQL is the most popular database software in use by our clients, and as such, will continue to be supported and enhanced.
We would like to thank those loyal customers who made the necessary changes to accommodate these discontinuations. Hetzner remains committed to providing you with excellence in web hosting and will continue to refine and improve our supported services.
